The advertising process to help find a new library dean to replace Claudia
Morner has been started and has even generated a few responses, according
to search committee co-chair Val Harper, who noted the group hopes to
have a selection of interested candidates by the end of February.
Committee members include Christina Bellinger, Dimond Library; Louise
Buckley, Dimond Library, Brigitte Bailey, Faculty Senate,
Ronald Cormier, Dimond Library Services, Jody Fernald, Dimond Library
and graduate student representative, Ann Donahue, UNH Manchester Library,
Jody Fernald, Dimond Library and graduate student rep., Tom Franke, CIS,
Rachel Gogan, Biological Sciences Library, Linda Johnson, Dimond Library,
Harper, Joe Klewicki (co-chair), College of Engineering & Physical
Sciences, Tracey Lauder, Dimond Library, Paul Nahin, Professor Emeritus,
Judith Quist, Dimond Library, William Ross, Dimond Library and Katherine
Steere, undergraduate student representative.
“It’s a very diverse committee because the dean reaches
so many constituencies because the library has so many constituencies,” Harper
says.
In addition to the administration of the library, University and Systems
policies, the library dean is responsible for all outreach and community
engagement initiatives as well as managing fiscal resources.
The Dean serves as member of the UNH Deans’ Council and reports
directly to the Provost and Executive Vice President.
Harper says the plan calls for bringing candidates to campus for interviews
sometime in April and having the position filled by July 1, if possible.
All members of the university community are urged to forward the names
of individuals they believe would be qualified candidates to the search
committee at Library.DeanSearch@unh.edu.
