If you’re one of those people who hates to shop at the mall or who wonders
how you’ll ever find time to even get your shopping done, take a look
at what you can buy right here on campus. It may put the ho ho ho back in your
holiday.
For $10, you can get a calendar offering inspirational quotes and beautiful
images from the Institute on Disability. The 2008 calendar features projects
and organizations that are dedicated to increasing inclusive community supports
for people with disabilities and their families.
They also have a great tote bag featuring artwork by Amala Design for $8.
You can order online at http://iodserver.unh.edu/iodbookstore/index.php.
For gardening enthusiasts, consider one of the numerous varieties of poinsettias
on sale during the second annual poinsettia open house at the UNH greenhouses,
today through Dec. 7. You won’t believe this year’s colors.
How about a food basket that includes UNH’s own salsa and blue and white
taco chips? Add the jazz CD “Do You Know What It Means to Miss New Orleans?” The
compilation is from the Dimond Library’s archives of the University's
Traditional Jazz Series concerts. $20. To order visit http://www.library.unh.edu/news/newOrleans/.
The Alumni Center offers UNH Marketplace, where you’ll find everything
from chairs and clocks bearing the university seal to a UNH calendar ($8) to
art work that includes the John Hatch mural of Durham (large $28; small, $20).
For more ideas from the Marketplace go to https://www.alumni.unh.edu/marketplace/index.html.
The calendar was designed and printed in New Hampshire on 50 percent recycled
and 25 percent postconsumer-waste stock.
You can also get postcards, posters and note cards at the Art Gallery ($.25
cents to $8).
How about tickets to a performance at one of UNH’s theaters? Ticket
prices range from $3.50 general admission for the Aerial Dance Showcase in
May to $15 for “Republic of Dreams" being performed in February
at the Hennessy Theatre.
Or, what about tickets to a sporting event like a UNH hockey game? And don’t
forget UNH Bookstore where you can get things like coffee mugs ($7.98), travel
mugs ($14.98) and Nalgene water bottles ($15.98), not to mention hats, sweatshirts,
Ts and more.
Once again, making it simple, you can avoid the lines and order
online.
