OS Council Update
April 18, 2007
A discussion on the longevity policy that rewards UNH employees with 10 years of service or more was the central topic at the recent OS Council meeting.
Councilors reviewed a proposed draft that includes merchandise rewards in addition to flat-fee payments rather than percentage increases. The suggested monetary change breaks down as follows:
Years of service |
Payment per year |
| 10 to 14 |
$500 |
| 15 to 19 |
$750 |
| 20 to 24 |
$1,250 |
| 25 to 29 |
$2,000 |
| 30-plus |
$3,000 |
| 35-plus |
$4,000 |
The current policy awards payments ranging from two to 10 percent of one’s salary, depending on the years of service. The new plan would give bonus payments once a year rather than the percentage payments.
Most councilors agreed the new plan, with its merchandise awards, would be too cumbersome to manage would not be “cost neutral.”
