Faculty Concert Series presents saxophonist Jared Sims

The UNH Faculty Concert Series presents saxophonist Jared Sims and pianist Arlene Kies in concert, at 8 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 9, at the Bratton Recital Hall in the PCAC. The performance is free and open to the public. Classical saxophone repertoire includes “Lillith” by William Bolcom and “Music for Saxophone and Piano” by Leslie Bassett. The second half of the recital will feature the jazz stylings of Sims.

Sims attend New England Conservatory and began touring full time with Miracle Orchestra. He has shared the stage with John Scofield, Ray Brown, Soulive, Derek Trucks, the Talking Heads and Phish. Sims now appears as leader or guest on 18 albums, most recently with Matt Wilson and jazz legend Cecil McBee. His next album will be recorded in February with Dutch jazz percussionist Han Bennink.
