Welcome to the Department of Mechanical Engineering

The University of New Hampshire College of Engineering and Physical Sciences (CEPS) is one of a handful of Land, Sea and Space Grant Colleges that affords both graduate students and undergraduate students many research opportunities. Coupled with the completion of the Kingsbury Hall renovations, our mechanical engineering students enjoy state-of-the-art lab space, wind tunnels, computer clusters and high tech classrooms. Our award winning faculty comes to you from around the world to teach excellence in the classroom and to introduce you to research and technologies of tomorrow. All of our professors are active researchers that are highly successful at integrating research and instruction in the classrooms and labs.

Mechanical engineering students at the University of New Hampshire may study towards an undergraduate B.S. degree and may further pursue a graduate M.S. and Ph.D. degree. Graduate students may continue their studies in the fields of Mechanical Engineering as well as Systems Design, Materials Science and Ocean Engineering. An accelerated B.S./M.S. degree offers students the ability to complete their undergraduate and graduate studies in a condensed timeframe.

Mission Statement:

Our graduates will be prepared to creatively solve engineering problems through the use of analysis, computation, and experimentation. The students completing our program should be well-informed citizens who have the ability to grow intellectually and are able to solve new, challenging problems with self-confidence. We maintain a general and flexible curriculum that prepares students for both industrial practice and graduate education.
