Internships and Practicums
The Department recommends pursuing an internship or practicum opportunity if you are able. Internships and practicums are good ways to gain work experience in your field of interest before you graduate. Many internships are non-credited experiences; they are, by definition, non-academic (non-classroom) experiences to which you apply the knowledge you have gained during your academic experience. However, some departments at UNH have carefully crafted credited internships or practicums within an academic framework; for these, you must work closely with a professor who directs an academic component of the internship or practicum that has been agreed upon and planned in advance of the experience. The following programs within the department offer either internship or practicum courses to qualified majors: Classics, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. The Department also offers LLC 695: International Internship. Check the course descriptions for any pre-requisites that may apply.
Discuss your internship or practicum interests with your faculty advisor or a faculty member in your area of interest.
The Undergraduate Advising and Career Center uses an online service, Wildcat Careers, to post all internship opportunities that it receives.
