Bec Conrad, Class of 2003 Graduate School 2006

Bec Conrad was born in Brisbane, Australia, and immigrated to the United States with her mother and sister when she was 7 years old. In 5th grade she made up her mind that one day she would become a Mechanical Engineer. In December of 2003, she received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, cum laude from UNH. She went on to earn her Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering in December of 2006 from the University of New Hampshire. Under the direction of Dr. Lloyd Huff, her graduate advisor, her most valuable experience was designing and building an autonomous stabilization system for a towed Sidescan Sonar vehicle. Bec is currently working as a Controls Systems Engineer at DEKA Research & Development on the iBOT®, a powered wheelchair that has the ability to climb stairs, drive rough terrain, and balance on two wheels so that the user can be eye level with a person standing.
