Healthy UNH has adopted and modified the C.O.R.E. philosophy in its approach to developing its vision and values. This philosophy was developed by Tom Kelly, Chief Sustainability Officer at the UNH Sustainability Academy. This philosophy will ensure that as Healthy UNH progresses, our campus does not just make change in regards to health, but studies, teaches, and leads the change both inside and outside of the organization. This included developing an overview of programs and services offered through the University System, Human Resources departments, and the existing insurance carrier.
Curriculum: This principle is based on the idea that by educating our community about health, individuals will begin considering new habits to affect their lives.
Operations: This principle is based on the idea that as individuals become more educated, they will begin implementing new, healthy habits to affect change.
Research: This principle is based on the idea that in order to properly serve our community, we must constantly be investigating new ideas about the most pressing issues of health.
Engagement: This principle is based on the idea that in order to further our cause, we must collaborate and conduct outreach in ways to connect with new people.
Each of these four principles must be present in each of the four work areas of Healthy UNH:
Each work area affects and is affected by the others.
