Indoor Track

The three lane suspended indoor track is located on the first floor of the Hamel Recreation Center.  It is approximately 12 laps to the mile. Along the track there are also exercise bikes for more cardio of a cardio workout without going downstairs to the fitness center.

How To Access:

No registration required, the track is open and during Hamel Recreation facility hours to students and Rec members. For questions, please call 862-2031.

Indoor Squash/Racquetball Courts

There is one international squash court and four racquetball courts located on the bottom floor of the Hamel Recreation Center.   Racquets are available to be rented from the equipment room, but balls are not provided; patrons may bring their own or purchase some at the Front Desk of the Hamel Recreation Center.

How To Acccess:

These courts are first come, first serve, but are also available for patrons to reserve as early as 5pm for the next day. To reserve a court, call 862-2031.

Indoor Basketball Courts

There are five basketball courts are located at Campus Recreation, two on the lower level and three on the upper level of the Hamel Recreation Center. These courts are reserved on a first come first serve basis unless they are being used for a university scheduled activity. Patrons may bring their own basketballs or rent them from the equipment room.

How To Access:

All courts are open for play unless an activity is scheduled. For questions, please call 862-2031.

Indoor Badminton Court

Hamel Recreation Center's third floor offers courts that can be used as badminton courts. The courts are available for use by students and Hamel Rec members.

Group Fitness Classes

Campus Recreation offers 45+ group classes per semester, including step, hi/lo, cycling, cardio boxing, Zumba (TM), strength training, interval training, Water fitness, and others. Most classes taught in Hamel Recreation Center's Studio 1. Classes are open to students and members of Hamel Recreation Center. Guests must pay a fee of $10 facility guest fee and sign a waiver.

Community Sailing

The Community Sailing Program offered at Mendums Pond teaches people of all skills and age levels how to sail. It is offered in the spring, summer and fall and is open to the public. Prices vary per course and participation and UNH Faculty and Staff receive a 10% discount.

College Woods

Recreational activities within College Woods include hiking, walking, skiing, jogging, and bike trails.

Bouldering Wall

The UNH Bouldering wall is a 260 square foot climbing structure located in the Hamel Recreation Center. It was built in 2005 thanks to the generous support of the UNH Parents Association. Students and members of Hamel Recreation Center are welcome to use the wall free of charge. Climbing shoes are available for free at the recreation center's equipment window on the ground floor.

Athletic Training Department

Campus Recreation offers certified athletic trainers to help with your injury prevention and care needs. The certified athletic trainer is available for evaluation of injuries, rehabilitation for injuries, and consultations on how to manage injuries. Trainers provide coverage for high risk sports teams and provide clinical training for education program on campus. They work with Health Service Referrals, Intramural participants, open recreational patrons, and sports club athletes.

American Red Cross Swim Classes

Swimming lessons are available throughout the year for a fee, for both children and adults.
