Have you been getting tired of the same old cardio routine at the gym?That happened to me Junior year of High school, I ran track and cross country and suddenly running got well kind of boring.That’s why I took a weight training class.10 pounds of muscle later I still love pumping iron to this day!

With September coming to an end that means the countdown to all sorts of exciting events can begin. One of my personal favorites is homecoming! There is nothing better than soaking up some Wildcat pride on a beautiful fall weekend in New Hampshire. There are all sorts of events happening the weekend of homecoming but one event is not only fun but also good for your health. Fun AND healthy? Yes, it is possible! The homecoming 5k race is a great way to get a little exercise while enjoying the fall weather and most importantly showing your support for UNH!

Whether you were a track star in high school or just like to jog from time to time, road races are a great way to get physically active while also supporting a good cause. Road races almost always include a wide variety of people, young and old, with faster and slower paces. Even if running is not your favorite activity, most road races also include walkers. Being in a large group of people makes a timed course much less intimidating. The energy of a road race is always so much fun. Everyone is excited and happy to be part of a great event.

The first week of classes are done and the semester is about to kick into full gear. While seeing old friends, making new ones and studying for classes are all key parts of being at school, it is also important to remember to stay active. While gym memberships at home might cost upwards of $50 a month; here at UNH all students have access to the Hamel Rec Center.

The weather is getting warmer and everyone is starting to spend more time outdoors, so why not take your workout outside as well? There are tons of things you can do outside to get a good workout in such as running, hiking, cycling, walking, playing a sport, swimming and much more. There are many difference between working out inside versus outside. When you workout inside a gym, usually it is climate controlled, convenient and predictable, which is definitely not the case for working out outdoors.

The name sounds a little intimidating, but it is a workout that will provide you with strength, flexibility and balance. TRX is made up of nylon straps that you secure onto any steady surface and which provides you with a full body workout.
