SPIN is a great opportunity to develop skills and knowledge, teach others, learn about yourself, and have fun.
About SPIN
SPIN (Students Promoting Information about Nutrition) is designed to provide nutrition education to enhance the well-being of UNH students.
Students who would like to learn more about nutrition issues and become comfortable in sharing information with other students are encouraged to join SPIN. Timely nutrition topics include but are not limited to:
- The importance of fruits and vegetables
- How to plan and prepare meals and snacks
- What to eat before and after a work-out
- The pros and cons of sports bars and drinks
- How to navigate the dining halls.
Students educating students is based on the belief that students are more receptive and learn better from informed and educated peers. Acquiring knowledge, skills and confidence helps SPIN members enhance their own knowledge, attitudes and beliefs related to nutrition education topics.
New SPIN members will complete extensive training during the fall semester. Once trained, students can expect to spend 1-3 hours/week attending a weekly SPIN meeting and developing, marketing and implementing programs or tabling.
Some students may be able to receive up to four academic credits for being involved with SPIN.
Application and Interview Process
Due to an amazing response of students interested in SPIN, we have closed the application process. We will be looking for members again in Fall 2010.
