Ann-Marie Matteucci
Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug Educator/Counselor
Education:
Master's in Health Administration, University of New Hampshire, 1996
Bachelor of Arts, University of New Hampshire, 1991
Background:
UNH has been my home for many years. As a student I was a peer educator and intern in the OHEP office and upon graduating I came to work here as a health educator for alcohol, tobacco and other drugs. I also worked for 2 years as a Resident Hall Director in Engelhardt Hall. Leaving UNH in 1999 was one of the hardest things I have ever done but going on to be the Director of Wellness Programming at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA was a fantastic experience. I have also had great experiences working with a community group on issues around teen safety and as a counselor at a mental health hospital.
I was very happy to see that my journey in life has brought me back to UNH and the OHEP office as an alcohol, tobacco and other drug educator/counselor. What could be better than mixing my love of UNH with my passion for prevention!
Approach:
College is a time for exploration and growth. It can be a magical experience, one that is full of rewards and challenges. As a student, I was fortunate to have many staff and faculty members willing to stop and work with me to become the person, and professional, I wanted to be. My approach is to remember that college is a time for a journey and self-exploration. My role is to assist when needed and to try to help make the path as smooth as possible. In my life, both as a student and as a professional, I have seen the impact that alcohol and other drugs can have on individuals' "journeys". If I can help someone figure it out so they can continue their growth, I have done good work!
Taking Care of Me:
I love to spend time with my family. I have a wonderful partner and two beautiful children. Spending a day with them, whether we are watching soccer games and dance classes, or snuggled up watching a movie... I am content. I also love to read, take long walks and spend time with my friends.
Little Known Facts About Me:
I have lived in 13 states (I moved 12 times from ages 8 – 13).
