Individual and group meditation sessions at UNH
Meditation is a skill that all college students can learn. Meditation can assist with stress management, sleep, academic success and overall well-being. Just to name a few benefits.
Health Services offers individual and group meditation sessions to UNH students.
Individual meditation sessions
Students who have paid the health fee may make an individual meditation appointment with a Health Services’ Wellness Educator/Counselor.
As part of your first meditation session, the Wellness Educator/Counselor will talk with you about your interest in meditation and how it may be helpful for you at this point in time.
You will be guided into relaxation, beginning with a focus on your breathing. Becoming aware of one’s breath is an integral part of meditation. Other techniques include guided imagery, progressive muscle relaxation or creative visualization. Sometimes, you might be asked to think of a mantra, a word or phrase that you repeat to yourself that helps bring focus and clarity to your meditation.
Overall, the goals of meditation are both relaxation and greater self-awareness.
