The Small Idea
Hello, we are in search of the above mentioned title for our day care network The Small Idea.

The Small Idea is a network of residential daycares servicing Harlem and Washington Heights.  Now in its seventh year of operation. The Small Idea was founded for working families looking to give their child a progressive and diverse experience in their own neighborhood. We are currently the only daycare/prek in our community with a farm to table component.

Recently, the organization purchased a three-story town house and is converting the building into a commercial daycare.  We need to convert our 30 x 50 foot backyard into a family-friendly, edible, teaching garden.  We have the capacity to acquire the materials (including a chicken coop), we need a planner/designer/gardner to plan and build the garden. This has been my designated mission in theory for years now ready for action.

Candidates should have examples of work and be able to accomplish the task within  5 weeks.  Knowledge of keeping rats out a serious plus!!

We are very flexible and willing to consider any serious proposals.

Compensation is a project stipend (upon completion) of $1500 and some other stuff including meals during day care hours, jokes and Mariam's cinameg coffee :)

The organization also owns four acres of land in the Catskill Mountains that are meant to become a small teaching farm and summer camp.  So, there's room to grow and the opportunity for a more long-term partnership.
We also run a CSA on a 22 week schedule and harvest directly from a Goshen-area farm each week.

Please email me for more details.  Feel free to send along your resume, some examples of what you've put into action/worked on in the past, or your passionate letter explaining why you are the person who can get this done for us. But please note this is a serious challenge for a special visionary.

Peace!!
