Welcome to the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of New Hampshire.  Civil Engineers are strong contributors to society.  They provide safe structures such as bridges, highways, skyscrapers, tunnels and dams, and by helping to restore and maintain water quality and the environment. It is an exciting profession, filled with opportunities locally, nationally and internationally.

Our Department prides itself in a civil engineering program that is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET and, faculty that are nationally and internationally renowned for excellence in teaching and research. As a faculty, we make sure that our students are well prepared to face the challenges ahead and eventually become registered professional engineers. 

To ensure that the experience at UNH is rewarding and fulfilling, we encourage students to take advantage of all available opportunities such as getting involved with the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Student Chapter, Students/Engineers Without Borders (EWB), the Honors Program and other student organizations. We have study abroad opportunities through our programs in Budapest and Scotland; opportunities in Spain, Ireland, and Australia; and a dual major program in Civil Engineering: International Affairs. We also have a 5-year BS/MS degree for students who qualify and conventional MS and PhD degrees should you choose to further enhance your formal education. As you will quickly discover, our faculty are here to help all students succeed.
