NetReg
Network Registration |
NetReg is an initiative to improve timely support in face of continuing computer virus outbreaks and other malicious activity that threatens your computer. The UNH Durham campus experienced unprecedented levels of virus infections on personal computers from the fall of 2003 through the spring of 2004 when up to 50% of campus computers were vulnerable. Industry experts report that malicious software and activity continues to evolve and is becoming more sophisticated, requiring increasingly better coordinated and efficient responses when outbreaks happen. Infected computers often generate disruptive network traffic and must be removed from the network. In residence halls, where owners of computers are known, support staff is able to contact owners of affected computers in a timely manner. Unfortunately it is exceptionally difficult to contact faculty and staff in the event their systems become infected or compromised and disrupt services on the network. Registering through NetReg provides CIS with contact information of owners of infected or otherwise compromised computers that impact other campus clients. To register your computer, please visit https://register.unh.edu.If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail netreg.info@unh.edu.
