CIE Benefactors Honored at UNH Awards Ceremony

On October 28, Bill Jackson ’75 and Craig Abbott ’70 were recognized for Alumni Meritorious Service at an annual ceremony hosted by Steve Donovan, Associate Vice President for Advancement. The philanthropists were honored for their outstanding service to the Alumni Association and their dedication to scholarship development efforts at UNH. Bill Jackson and his wife, Martha Foley Jackson, have consistently supported study abroad and CIE. They established a yearly $4,000-5,000 scholarship for a NH student to study abroad who might not otherwise be able to do so. We at CIE are excited to report that the Jacksons have recently increased that endowment to double their support.
Craig Abbott, in addition to his tireless work supporting the Alumni Society of the Whittemore School, established the Endowment for International Studies in 2001. Thanks to his generosity, over 30 students have been granted scholarships to study abroad or do international research. Abbott is also a strong voice and consistent advocate for internationalization efforts at his alma mater. He offered this insight at the recent Awards Ceremony: “International experience is perhaps the most important thing we can offer a UNH student.”
