Faculty International Development Grants

The Center for International Education administers applications for two categories of grants to support the international engagement of full-time, tenured or tenure-track UNH faculty in all departments of all colleges.

Funds are provided by the Vice-President for Academic Affairs to encourage faculty members in all disciplines to support the current efforts of internationalizing the UNH campus, and to advance their own international scholarship and teaching.

Awardees are selected by a committee comprised of UNH faculty and CIE staff. The committee takes into account the following criteria:

  • Specific details and quality of the proposal, with priority given to projects that support not only the faculty member's own scholarly activities but also contribute to UNH efforts to internationalize;
  • Applicant's department and college (to ensure the grants are broadly distributed and representative of the university at large);
  • Due to limited funds, priority will be given to faculty who have not received a grant within the last 4 years.

Awards will take the form of expense reimbursements, contingent upon the receipt by the Center for International Education of a report on the funded activities. See report guidelines. For sample reports, visit the Faculty Travel Reports section. Grant money must be used during the time period of the award. Grantees unable to use the award during the time allotted should notify CIE as soon as possible, so the money may support another worthy faculty international endeavor. Grantees unable to use the award are encouraged to reapply to a future cycle, and their circumstances will be taken into account.
