President Considering Provost Search Committee Recommendation

President Considering Provost Search Committee Recommendation

Wednesday, May 15, 2013

On behalf of the provost search committee, we are writing to update the community on the status of the search for UNH’s next provost. First, we would like to thank so many members of the faculty, staff, student body, and community who took the time to participate in this process. We were impressed by the attendance at the forums and the thoughtfulness of the feedback submitted to us. We would especially like to thank the candidates, Willem deVries, Lisa MacFarlane, and James Wible, for demonstrating their commitment to UNH by applying for this position and participating in the extensive search process, which included open forums as well as meetings with President Mark Huddleston, academic and administrative leaders, student representatives, and Faculty Senate leaders.

After careful consideration of the feedback provided by the community and extensive meetings with the candidates, the committee has shared its insights with and made a recommendation to the president. President Huddleston met with the committee and took its recommendation under advisement. The president will consult with the executive committee of the USNH board of trustees and make his decision as soon as possible.

Finally, we want to thank the entire UNH community for its interest and engagement during this search. We realize that this is an exceptionally busy time of the academic year. We also want to thank the 21 members of the search committee who participated in every aspect of the process and worked together as a team to evaluate the candidates and make recommendations to President Huddleston.

We wish you all the best as the semester concludes and the summer’s academic pursuits begin, and look forward to seeing you at Honors Convocation and Commencement.
