Employee Clinic Celebrates First Year

Employee Clinic Celebrates First Year

Wednesday, April 10, 2013

The Employee Clinic at Health Services, which has allowed UNH faculty and staff and their over-18 year old dependents to receive medical care on campus during the workday, is celebrating its first year of operation with an open house on April 24. If you haven’t had a need to use the clinic since it opened in 2012, the event will be a great time to see all it has to offer.

Meanwhile, here’s a look at some of the numbers.

During the last 12 months, Health Service doctors, nurses and other clinicians tended to 769 employees, providing medical care as well as blood work, lab tests and x-rays. Phlebotomy care included fasting and annual blood draws. Radiology visits were split between acute visits and outside physician orders. The pharmacy was used most by employees who had been seen at the clinic.  Employees also used Health Services for massage therapy (MT); there were 229 employee visits during the year.

Analysis of an electronic patient satisfaction survey conducted through Feb. 22, 2013, revealed that, of the employees seen:

  • 98 percent would definitely or probably recommend the Employee Clinic to other USNH faculty and staff
  • 94 percent would definitely or probably use the Employee Clinic for future needs.
  • 98 percent rated their experience as excellent or good.

The statistics showed that most employees will come to Health Services for medical care even if they are not seen in the Employee Clinic space.

After receiving care at the clinic, one employee said, “Everyone was great and worked quickly to see me as a walk in. Saved time away from my work day.”

Another worker commented: “I was extremely impressed by my visit - all staff were very kind, courteous, accommodating and professional. Very helpful. My visit there worked out very well for me in an emergency situation where visiting my PCP was impossible. I would definitely return. This is a great resource for UNH employees.”

The Employee Clinic is available to all University System of New Hampshire employees and their dependents over the age of 18, and is open Monday - Friday, from 7 a.m. - 1 p.m.  Services are also available after clinic hours, when Health Services is open.

Medical care is available for infections, injuries, acute health problems, workplace injuries, pre-employment physicals and worker’s compensation visits, allergy services, and immunizations.  Massage therapy ($45 for traditional/$55 for hot stone), biofeedback, and light therapy (both services, no cost) is available.

To celebrate its first year of service, a ribbon cutting and open house will be held Wednesday, April 24 from 3:30-5:30 at the clinic, and will feature light refreshments, giveaways, free chair massages, blood pressure checks and glucose testing, and an opportunity to view the facility.  RSVP: https://www.events.unh.edu/RegistrationForm.pm?event_id=11652

Employees can now enter the clinic through the entrance that faces the Peter T. Paul College courtyard, where additional patient parking is located.
