Faculty and Staff: Hold Your Meetings at the MUB

Faculty and Staff: Hold Your Meetings at the MUB

While the Memorial Union Building is often thought of as a place for students to gather, it is also available to faculty and staff. With the ability to accommodate as few as two and as many as 600 people, it’s a convenient place to hold meetings or conferences.

The flexible space includes formal conference rooms, configurable meeting rooms, a café style entertainment center, a games room, two large banquet and event rooms and two state of the art movie theaters. Many of the rooms are air conditioned.

Many departments are currently using the MUB for events such as staff meetings, department trainings, committee meetings, special lectures, and student information sessions on topics such as internships or how to apply to graduate school.

“We host anywhere from 30 to 50 events a day during the academic year, and while common exam times and evenings are usually the busiest, there are often meeting rooms available in the mornings before 11 and in the afternoons between 2 and 5,” says assistant director Nora Molloy. “There are plenty of opportunities for departments to schedule time.”

The MUB has Wi-Fi, and all the standard meeting rooms have built in wide screen 70” flat screens ready to be hooked up to a computer. The MUB’s student building managers will have your meeting room set to your specifications, and are on call for anything they can provide to help your event be successful. With the exception of set up fees for the Granite State Room and Strafford Room, and a few items like microphones, there's no cost to use the MUB. (Contact the scheduling office for more specifics.)

Two other perks: one of the movie theaters has 3D technology; The Notch opens for coffee at 8 a.m. (M-F) and the food court opens at 10 a.m. (M-F). Best of all, scheduling can be done online. For more information visit http://www.unhmub.com/scheduling/about-mub-facilities.
