Wildcats Sweep Yale in Double Header--4/18
UNH 13 Yale 10
In game one the Wildcats didn’t waste any time getting the bats going scoring two runs in the top of the first. Artie Patch (Lebanon, NH) led off by getting plunked and advanced to third base when Adam Rosenthal (North Waterboro, Me) got on base via an error. Patch would score on a wild pitch and Rosenthal would score on a ground out to shortstop by Matt Keene (Berlin, NH).
In the bottom half of the inning the Wildcats found themselves in a hole as starter Evan Hall (Barnstable, MA) walked seven Yale Bulldogs in the first inning. The Bulldogs added two hits in the first to take a 6-2 lead after one. In the top half of the second the Cats got right back to work with the sticks. With one out Ben Farina (Plymouth, NH) got hit by a pitch and Dan Solomon (Concord, NH) followed by getting on base via an error. After a Patch walk to load the bases Rosenthal hit a bases clearing double to right center field. He would later score on an error.
Going into the sixth the Wildcats found themselves down 10-6 and responded with four runs. Farina walked for a second time, pinch hitter Dave Maxfield (Lebanon, NH) singled, Patch walked, and Rosenthal singled. The Wildcats had tied the game and had put the game in the hands of Matt Story (Hopkington, NH) who came in relief of Hall. Story shut down the Bulldogs and sparked the Wildcats. With the score tied in the top of the seventh, the Wildcats got some help from Yale. A walk, a hit batter, two defensive errors, and a single by Solomon, lead to a three run seventh which was good enough to give the Wildcats a 13-10 victory.
Story got the win, pitching three innings and giving up three earned runs. Rosenthal who had 3 RBI in game one led the Wildcats offensively.

In the top half of the third the Bulldogs got a run back off of Farina. Yale drew a walk, stole a base and then got the run in on a single, but that is all the offensive success Farina would allow for the Bulldogs. UNH took the lead right back in the bottom half when Lane hit his second single of the day, advanced to second on a wild pitch and was drove in on a single by Keene. The Wildcats would conclude their offense in the fourth when Patch hit a scorching triple down the left field line scoring Kevin Gusciora (Stoughton, MA) who drew a walk. Rosenthal then singled Patch in and after swiping second base Lane singled Rosenthal in.
The wildcats swept the double header with offensive help from Rosenthal (3-8, 4 RBI) and Lane (3-4, RBI).
