Master Sergeant Kenneth Schaffer is the Senior Military Science Instructor (SMSI) at UNH. His primary MOS is 19Z, Armor/Cavalry and he has served in every position from tank driver to First Sergeant.
He has 16 years of military experience and his assignments include 1-81 AR (Fort Knox, KY), 1-72 AR (Camp Casey, Korea), 3-67 AR (Fort Hood, TX), 2-81 AR (Fort Knox, KY), 1-17 IN (Fort Lewis, WA) and 8-1 CAV, 2-2 SBCT (Fort Lewis, WA). MSG Schaffer also served as a Drill Sergeant at Fort Knox, KY from Dec 2004-Dec 2006.
MSG Schaffer has deployed multiple times, including Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF-1) from Apr 2003 thru Apr 2004 as a Tank Commander with 3-67 AR, 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized), Fort Hood, TX. He recently deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from July 2009-July 2010 as First Sergeant of C Troop 8-1 CAV, 2-2 SBCT (Fort Lewis, WA).

MSG Schaffer is married to Windy Schaffer and has two children, Samantha and Nathan.
